the blind is excessively
dirty you may wish clean the vanes outside. Using a hand wash
liquid and a sponge, work from one end of the vane to the
other using gentle scrubbing movements then turn it over and
do the same on the reverse. Do not use abrasive cleaners as
this could damage the fabric. If you have chosen to clean
your blind in the garden you could use the hose to rinse and
then hang over the washing line to dry. If you have to clean
the blind indoors the bath is a good alternative and the vanes
can then be gently dried with a towel or hung over a shower
curtain rail before you re-hang.
Some
fabrics are machine washable but do ensure that you check
the manufacturer’s cleaning information before doing
this. If you want to use your washing machine, select a low
temperature cycle for delicates and avoid biological detergents.
Rub a little extra detergent into spots where the vanes are
particularly soiled before the machine wash.
Once
the vanes are dry, replace the weights and refit to the top
rail and bottom chains. Your efforts will be well worth it
as your vertical blind
will look as good as new.
